Deacon Jerry Schiffer

A graduate of the University of Detroit and Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Deacon Jerry Schiffer has served St. Linus Parish as Pastoral Associate since July, 2003.

In that time, Deacon Jerry has coordinated the parish’s RCIA process and has been responsible for Adult Faith Formation at St. Linus. Other responsibilities have included sacramental preparation (for those seeking Baptism and Marriage), Altar Server training and numerous parish projects, including organization of Corpus Christi processions and participation in both archdiocesan Together in Faith efforts.

As Director of Christian Service for St. Linus, Deacon Jerry is responsible for maintaining the parish’s tradition of charitable activities, including the preparation and distribution of Thanksgiving dinners at Manna House each Fall, preparation of lunches for visitors to St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen, and the creation and distribution of more than 125 food baskets each Christmas.

Since his ordination to the diaconate in 2007, Deacon Jerry also frequently assists Fr. Paul at Parish Masses and in administration of the sacraments of Baptism and Matrimony. He and his wife, Kathy, are the parents of three children.
