Together in Faith

Together in Faith is an ongoing assessment and planning process that involves every parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

In 2011, five representatives from St. Linus were among were among approximately 1,500 lay volunteers who were nominated by their pastors to participate in the process. Through Together in Faith, participants evaluated parish situations in an open and collaborative process to propose ideas on how to better use parish resources to fulfill regional objectives, given the problem of a decreasing number of priests to serve area parishes.

At the end of the process, recommendations were forwarded to the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council who, in turn, forwarded them to Archbishop Allen Vigneron for his consideration. The Archbishop, informed by recommendations from lay leaders, the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, and consultations with others including pastors and the auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese, then issued decisions on the use of parish resources in the archdiocese.

Those decisions included the closing of some parishes and the merger and clustering of others. As a result of the Together in Faith process, St. Linus continues to collaborate with our neighboring parish, St. Mel, with the prospect that the two parishes may at some point cluster and share a priest should one of our pastors end his current assignment without being replaced.
