Preschool & PreK Curriculum

Things Parents Can Do At Home To Help Your Children Prepare for Preschool

  • Read to your children.
  • Ask your children about school and take an interest in what they are learning.
  • Help them make good nutritional choices and get adequate rest to fuel growing minds and bodies.
  • Set limits on the amount of television they watch, hand-held electronics they play, and exposure to any flat-screen viewing.

Highlights of Preschool

  • Encourages learning through play and socialization
  • Uses hands-on activities in a variety of developmentally appropriate learning themes, including:
    • Centers
    • Music
    • Literature
    • Math
    • Science
  • Children learn to:
    • Use scissors, glue, and pencils
    • Recognize letters and their sounds
    • Recognize numbers and count
    • Write their name
  • Field Trips:
    • Dearborn Heights Fire Station
    • Real Life Farm
    • Michigan Academy of Gymnastics
    • Northville’s Historic Marquis Theater


  • 3-yr-olds (Must be 3 years old by September 1)
    • Meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00am to 11:30am
    • Must be able to take care of their own bathroom needs
  • 4-yr-olds (Must be 4 years old by September 1)
    • Meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
    • 5 Day Week Option Available!
      • Half Day: 7:50am to 11:00am or noon to 3:15pm
      • Full Day: 7:50am to 3:15pm

Preschool communications include:

  • Daily folder system
  • Monthly class newsletter

Opportunities for Family Involvement

  • Assist with daily lunch periods
  • Assist in classroom activities
  • Assist in religious education program
  • Attend & participate in a Field Trip
  • Provide review and enrichment activities for skills learned throughout the school day at home
